Programmatic buying is automated buying and selling of ad inventory that takes place using software, rather than manual negotiations. Programmatic increases both the efficiency and the addressability of advertising, by decreasing the amount of human error and increasing the customization available for campaigns.

This form of advertising allows buyers to target a specific audience on the desired device and site, in the desired place, and at the desired time, among other vectors.
